The memory of our revered father John Psychaitis
Our holy father John, having loved Christ from his youth, became in character like the holy prophets Elijah and John. Leaving the world, he went to the Psychaitic Lavra [Psychaitic Lavra, according to the instructions of the Bolandists, was in Constantinople.] and there took the paganism, after which he received from God the gift of casting out demons and healing diseases.
He was denounced to the emperor, the persecutor of icons [A particularly cruel persecutor of icons was the Greek emperor Constantine Copronimus (743-775), who intended to solemnly, with the observance of the law, destroy icon worship as heresy, for which in 754 he convened a council and called it Universal.
The emperor Leo the Armenian (813-820) also violently persecuted idolatry - he issued a decree forbidding monks from preaching about idolatry, and all monks had to sign the decree.
Probably by the emperor, the persecutor of icons, here the last emperor is understood.] , and the latter, calling him to himself, began to force him to abandon the worship of honest icons, join his heresy and sign the wicked scroll, but the monk did not agree to do this and even denounced the emperor, calling him a heretic.
For this, he was exiled, where he suffered many hardships from lawless and unjust iconoclasts and ended his life here.
